About Me
I’m a scientist, science enthusiast, and strategist who has worked in many different fields: cancer biology, chemical biology, structural biology, drug discovery, biotechnology, medicinal chemistry, physical chemistry, analytical chemistry, material science, & more!
Over the years, I have made several important contributions to science, most recently to the field of targeted protein degradation, proximity-induced pharmacology, and “Protein Homeostasis in Drug Discovery”. In addition to my own research and scientific interests, I also advise others on their research projects and manuscripts. In that capacity, I have contributed to almost 100 publications!
One of the issues I care deeply about is rigor and reproducibility in science. I am extensively involved in many community efforts that support standards surrounding chemical probe and tool compound use and development:
- I chair the Board of Governors of Chemical Probes Portal, an open-access platform where researchers can find the best chemical probes to use for their biological research;
- serve on the SGC Donated Chemical Probes scientific committee that evaluates probes donated by pharma and biotech companies; and
- advise Target 2035, an international effort to develop tools to study all proteins in human proteome by 2035, where I most recently co-hosted a podcast.
In my role as an educator, I am currently spending a lot of time thinking about AI and its impact on curriculum development and student assessment. Alas, I don’t have any concrete answers, just a lot of questions!
